Online Registration (updated on 07/10/09)

Applicants desire to submit the applications under Tatkal as well as normal course  are requested to register their applications online.  Passport applicants are requested to submit the application on the date allotted by the computer.  No advancement of date of acceptance will be accepted and those who fail to submit the application on the particular date  may re-register and submit onthe date assigned by the computer. In order to have hassle free submission of passport applications, acceptance is regulated by issue of token for ordinary and tatkal applications on first come first served basis.  Hence the time allotted by the computer against the date of submission may be ignored.

Where to apply (as on  01/10/2009)

There are four modes of submission of applications in Regional Passport Office, Chennai  viz. (a) Direct Submission  at counter & through authorised representatives of applicants,    (b) through Travel Agents authorised by the Regional Passport Office, Chennai, (c) through authorised Speed Post centres in Chennai and Pondicherry, (d) through District Passport Cells set up in the District Collectorates and three centres set up in the office of the Deputy Commissioners of Police in Chennai City at Adyar, Anna Nagar and Flower Bazar. (System of acceptance of applications by post and courier dispensed with from  01.10.2009.)

Passport Application Collection Centre, Pondicherry

Residents of Pondicherry and Karaikkal can submit the applications for fresh passport/ reissue of passport and other miscellaneous services shall be submitted at the Passport Application Collection Center at Pondicherry.

Through Authorized Travel Agencies

Applications for fresh and reissue of passport can also be submitted through the authorized travel agencies.  Passports for the applications submitted through Travel Agencies will be dispatched by speed post directly to the applicants.
